Our Approach

1. Participatory Monitoring, Evaluation, appraisal, learning, and research system.

APIR has an effective PMEARL system and tested tools that ensure quality data, information and findings are documented in every stage of the project throughout implementation. It considers tracking outputs through Indicator performance tools/Output trackers; measuring impacts through regular and scheduled assessments,
implementing projects-based quality benchmarks through donor and partner participatory spot checks, and conducting quality audits and project visits. Moreover, PMEARL at APIR defines research protocols and methodologies for use in project implementation. A comprehensive and considered results-based management protocol has been developed, simplified, integrated, and mainstreamed through programs.

2. Commitment to Human Rights based approaches

APIR is committed to human rights-based approaches (HRBA) in programming and ensuring that human rights and the need for protection are always upheld in all aspects during inceptions, implementation, and closeouts. As a result, we facilitate ensured access to and realization of all basic needs and rights to all the target groups and individuals. APIR ensures that through guided support we fulfill human rights without any violation or interference with other peoples’ and entities’ rights.

3. Gender Mainstreaming

APIR embraces gender mainstreaming in community-based beneficiary targeting, this is guided by the four core humanitarian standards which we largely contribute to through our core values: Humanity, Neutrality, Independence & impartiality where affected Beneficiaries are accorded equitable services and ensure gender-sensitive intervention and generate gender-segregated data. Women, children, special groups, and minority groups are prioritized during unconditional cash disbursements as they are largely vulnerable.

4. Community Targeting Guide

At APIR, we clearly define the target population(s) for every project and activity and maintain key talking points throughout the project. Our complaints response and feedback mechanism (CRFM) focuses on receiving and providing insightful feedback to beneficiaries. This is empowerment, accountability, and increased participation.

5. Core Humanitarian Standards

We embrace CHS approaches as we ensure beneficiaries receive timely and effective responses to the situation that do not put them in more harm. We are strictly bound to adhere to all the 9 CHS standards and all SDGs.

6. Community-Driven Development

(CDD) our programs operate on the principles of transparency, participation, accountability, and enhanced local capacity. APIR considers this strategy as an element of an effective poverty-reduction and sustainable development strategy. We prioritize working with communities through committed clear and transparent guidance facilitated access to information and appropriate technical support. This has led to effective community organization to identify community priorities and address local problems hence establishing community institutions for ease of delivery of basic services.
