Turkana County, along with an expansion to five additional counties through the FADEV consortium (Forum for Arid Lands Development, namely Turkana, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, and West Pokot), serves as our operational domain. Our primary office is situated in Lodwar, Turkana, Kenya, with a satellite office in Lokori and another office in the process of establishment in Kakuma.
Looking ahead to the 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, our goal is to establish a regional network comprising individuals, education researchers, especially in Early Child Education, and those focused on addressing socio-economic inequalities. We aim to collaborate with organizations to advocate for social justice and encourage democratic participation in the development process. Through the implementation of locally-driven programs and activities, we seek to enhance collective empowerment, facilitate dialogue, and share knowledge on people-centered development strategies.
Simultaneously, we advocate for policy changes within pastoralist communities to foster inclusivity, equity, equality, and sustainability. Our focus extends to promoting access to quality early child education, sexual and reproductive health and rights, women’s socio-economic empowerment, and inclusive advocacy during emergencies. Additionally, we emphasize social accountability, civic engagement, citizen oversight, policy influence, and the empowerment of committed women leaders.
